what moves the price

The menu. Day-boat fish and aged beef cost more than a vegetable-led menu. We'll tell you which way each choice pushes the price.

Service. A dinner for twelve needs the two of us. A party for forty needs extra hands in the kitchen and front-of-house staff.

questions people ask

How much does a private chef cost in the UK?

Usually £50 to £140 a head for a dinner, depending on numbers, menu and what's included. Marketplace prices often leave out tableware and drinks. Ours are £60 to £95 a head for dinners of up to 20, with shopping, service and washing up included.

Is there a minimum spend?

Yes. For a private dinner the minimum is £450, which is six guests on our four-course menu. Christmas dinners start at eight guests, and larger parties have a minimum food spend of £1,200. However, if we're available on your dates, we'll do our best to make it work.

Do you charge for travel?

Free within 30 miles of Codicote. Beyond that, we charge £1 a mile for the extra distance, each way, to cover fuel and time on the road.

Should I tip?

Tips are welcome, never expected.

Is the price fixed once we've agreed it?

Yes. Once the menu and numbers are agreed, the price is fixed, unless numbers change.
